Memorial Day in Waterbury
May 27 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
After a traditional ceremony at the Waterbury Center Cemetery Monday at 9 a.m. and a wreath-raising at 10 a.m. at Hope Cemetery, members of the Waterbury Historical Society and American Legion Post 59 will lead a “ghost walk” in Holy Cross Cemetery on Route 100 in Duxbury.
The walk will recognize five Waterbury or Duxbury residents who made a strong impact on their community. “Ghosts” to be recognized include the first resident pastor of the Catholic church, Father Galligan, and Civil War soldier Luther Morse. The ceremonies will be held rain or shine, and a lawn chair is recommended for people who can’t stand for a long time.
